Goodbye, Embry"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">by <strong>Brandie Lorenzen<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do me a favor and&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Close your eyes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now open your eyes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What you see is not&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Life, but not death either.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What you see is&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like being submerged in dark water;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whilst being tossed and&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Turned in that water,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019re unaware,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You aren\u2019t sure if&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You are drowning or&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps falling.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Suddenly,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this colorless,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Darkened world,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where you float in&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nonexistent form,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is a small&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spark of light in the distance;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your lifeless form floats forward,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unable to escape from this sentence.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thought does not exist in the&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mind of an embryo.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don\u2019t leave,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No, you are much than just a thing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You are a peapod,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The literal shape of&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A microorganism.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So small, I am unsure of&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why I tear up at the thought&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of losing you.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You don\u2019t know the outside world,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And it\u2019s me who doesn\u2019t want you here,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And I refuse to let him know you need to leave.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alas, I know if I hold for too long,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You may slip away,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And I may stand and be filled with more&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guilt and anguish than I can handle.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And put to death is my new fate in this world.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The world is ruled by men who don\u2019t&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Know my only will is to keep you safe&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From those who for certain do not want you.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They don\u2019t know the chemistry,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The passion, nor do they know the weight&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is carried in the heart of a woman&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Who bears a child through the worst of conditions;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">O! Goodbye, Embry,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You need to know,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I love you, and&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I tried to protect all what was left&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of my womanhood and your&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unreasonable childhood.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">O!
