Cotton Balls

Cotton Balls

(A Free Verse)

She was born
Entered a world of pure gold
She knew it was
Curiosity conquered her being
Experimentation was the top priority
Gathering information
Putting a lock on them
She slowly acquired lingual skills
And the ability to comprehend
Phenomenal life became
Simplicity at her fingertips
With the capacity to understand
Came the prejudice
Persuasion and indoctrination
Of course, lead her to confusion
But a choice none other than acceptance
The questions
The curiosity
All began to fade
The information contained in the world of gold
It seemed to suffice
No need to wonder or ponder with hypotheticals
She kept on
Remaining under the clouds
No matter how urged she felt to break through those cotton balls
They seemed to be the limit
She rested along with the others
But something was off
Something always seemed to be off
She couldn’t fathom it, but she knew she was living falsely
Bewildered she was
Abiding in a leveled, repetitive society
Yet a question was all it took
A moment of silence
She wondered
And pondered
All forms intertwined
Browsing her atmosphere, she observed facets she’d never thought to evaluate
She felt detached from her own, lifelong beliefs
Everything transfigured
She was metamorphosed
Energy fundamental to the universe
She unbuckled the seatbelt of the world
Her life form embraced
Senses permanently climaxed
Mind was clear as glass
Longing for her kind, she searched
The tables turned
No one
A sole soul
But one who saw the rest as indifferent from herself
She broke free and rose above
The clouds – her companion
She was born
Entered a world of pure gold
She knew it was
