Imaginary Life
Imagine if wings
grew from our laces,
oxygen would be our pavement
Concrete dreams
for our feet to stand on
as we run towards the stars
& dance in the night sky
Imagine if bricks
didn’t have to be
cold stones burned hot
marooned in mortar
offsetting stacks
bound by gray area
baked under the sun’s watch
Imagine if the skies
cracked thunder
filling our pockets
with lightning—
could we find gratitude
in our electric smiles?
Imagine if the rabbit
lived in the moon
Hearts floating
into ethereal clouds
rice grains pounding
the drum
Immortality
engraved in our fingerprints.
Imagine if the universe
fit in the space
between your fingers
between life and love
reality filtered through
infinity lenses
sharpened
against the edges
of light
Would I be happier?
