{"id":277,"date":"2020-11-18T01:23:18","date_gmt":"2020-11-18T01:23:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.illinoisstate.edu\/euphemism\/16-1\/?page_id=277"},"modified":"2020-11-20T02:24:05","modified_gmt":"2020-11-20T02:24:05","slug":"for-you","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/euphemism.illinoisstate.edu\/16-1\/poetry\/for-you\/","title":{"rendered":"For You"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>For You<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How am I\u00a0\u00a0<br>supposed to\u00a0\u00a0<br>help you\u00a0<br>when the monster\u00a0<br>that tortures you\u00a0<br>is just a ghost\u00a0<br>that haunts your\u00a0<br>mind\u00a0\u00a0<br>it\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0be killed\u00a0<br>because\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0already\u00a0<br>dead\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How am I supposed\u00a0\u00a0<br>to help when your\u00a0<br>pain\u00a0<br>is in the past\u00a0<br>I\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0go\u00a0<br>back and take\u00a0<br>it away but I sure\u00a0\u00a0<br>as hell wish that I\u00a0\u00a0<br>could if just to\u00a0\u00a0<br>make one day\u00a0<br>less painful\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why should you\u00a0<br>suffer more than\u00a0<br>you already have\u00a0<br>it, they, hurt\u00a0\u00a0<br>you and yet it\u00a0<br>comes back wanting\u00a0\u00a0<br>more\u00a0<br>more pain\u00a0<br>more blood\u00a0<br>more tears\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How is it fair\u00a0<br>that this chain\u00a0<br>is embedded in your\u00a0<br>skin and no one\u00a0<br>not me\u00a0<br>not your therapist\u00a0<br>not even you\u00a0<br>can dig it out\u00a0<br>all you have left\u00a0<br>is to feel the shackles\u00a0<br>as it tugs at your\u00a0<br>heart and it\u00a0\u00a0<br>breaks mine\u00a0<br>and yes\u00a0<br>tomorrow could be better\u00a0<br>but today\u00a0shouldn\u2019t\u00a0\u00a0<br>have to hurt as\u00a0<br>much as it does\u00a0<br>you\u00a0shouldn\u2019t\u00a0have to\u00a0\u00a0<br>carry the weight\u00a0<br>of it all on your own\u00a0<br>when the weights\u00a0shouldn\u2019t\u00a0<br>be there at all\u00a0<br>they had their time\u00a0<br>they weighed you down once\u00a0<br>who gave them\u00a0the\u00a0<br>right to stay\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So\u00a0let me\u00a0<br>carry some\u00a0<br>I\u00a0won\u2019t\u00a0try to fix it\u00a0<br>I\u00a0won\u2019t\u00a0try to cure you\u00a0<br>because there is nothing to\u00a0\u00a0<br>cure because love,\u00a0<br>you are not broken\u00a0<br>just tired so\u00a0<br>hand me your yoke\u00a0<br>let me shoulder the\u00a0<br>burden for the\u00a0<br>next few miles\u00a0<br>I can take it\u00a0<br>when you\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But I understand wanting to\u00a0<br>carry it alone\u00a0<br>so\u00a0if you don\u2019t want my\u00a0\u00a0<br>help lifting\u00a0<br>then I will shout from\u00a0<br>the sidelines\u00a0\u00a0<br>encouraging every step\u00a0<br>hoping that words\u00a0<br>may be enough\u00a0\u00a0<br>at least for now\u00a0<br>and I know\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0getting better\u00a0<br>even if I\u00a0haven\u2019t\u00a0\u00a0<br>seen the progress myself\u00a0<br>I know you are\u00a0<br>so strong and that\u00a0<br>you can handle anything\u00a0<br>love, but just remember\u00a0<br>you\u00a0shouldn\u2019t\u00a0have to\u00a0<br>that you can\u00a0\u00a0<br>ask for help\u00a0\u00a0<br>I will always\u00a0\u00a0<br>do as much\u00a0<br>as I can because\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For you\u00a0\u00a0<br>Almost anything\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-summary\">\nFor You&nbsp;
