Consensual Misery <\/em><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She spoke with a tone I\u2019d rather not hear,\u00a0
Saying my pleasure is my pain,\u00a0\u00a0
And my pain is her pleasure \u2013\u00a0
(And to think, I didn\u2019t even ask this.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the world did.)\u00a0 There must have been\u00a0
Some talks going on behind my back,\u00a0\u00a0
Nefarious, I would say, those chit-chats\u00a0
Cuckolding me in the world of the sign.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m not sure what the response\u00a0\u00a0
Should have been.\u00a0 In a way, my hands\u00a0\u00a0
Were full, and my lips were tied —\u00a0\u00a0
It was bondage, in a way, but\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not sexy.\u00a0 And it\u2019s only at this moment\u00a0
That I could think it wouldn\u2019t be.\u00a0\u00a0
And only at this moment when I think\u00a0\u00a0
\u2018No\u2019 might be the Dionysian core.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But let\u2019s not think \u2013 at least, deeply\u00a0\u00a0
For in this veritable quagmire,\u00a0
Through which we can only tiptoe,\u00a0
We pretend that we\u2019re marching.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And in this veritable worldly guise\u00a0\u00a0
We speak as if we have spoken before\u00a0
With our teeth biting themselves; we have\u00a0
shredded poetry \u2026 so recite your pick.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I listened in a way she\u2019d rather not.\u00a0
We have memorized our lines,\u00a0
Measure for meter, but I knew\u00a0\u00a0
