{"id":354,"date":"2021-04-14T02:15:46","date_gmt":"2021-04-14T02:15:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.illinoisstate.edu\/euphemism\/16-2\/?page_id=354"},"modified":"2021-04-28T21:33:54","modified_gmt":"2021-04-28T21:33:54","slug":"saint","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/euphemism.illinoisstate.edu\/16-2\/saint\/","title":{"rendered":"Saint"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Gabriel Miranda<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Send me down, oh holy spirit, to shower angelic feel,<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To usher in a new religion and unify repent.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The locusts are out of hand this time,<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And now they\u2019ve reached the Garden.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But I bring news of good tidings and better days,<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And hope against our devils.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To convey truth is to speak in tongues<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lost to gluttony and unrest,<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, to write is to rally in the know,<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To be a Hermeneut for progress.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This rock we ride around the sun<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Is the blood of communion wine,<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And all of us are of the flesh<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To see a future time.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To write is to beg for pious peers,<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And promise better tomorrows.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To lust for hope, enlighten doubt,<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And alleviate worldly sorrows.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I pray for days free of sin, and lacking pain and strife.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Though regretfully I write so that you may hear<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the Earth weep<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and your kin crumble.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To hear the truth is a pain to bear,<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, I write to feel closer to you<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And bridge the great divide,<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To mend the bond and recompense<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over ignorance and lies.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Garden is now still in reach,<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Awaiting our mutual grasp<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we walk into the future<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hand-in-hand and polychrome.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gabriel Miranda &nbsp; Send me down, oh holy spirit, to shower angelic feel, To usher in a new religion and unify repent.
