Chris Skiles
Science class
Was my fourth from last
Right before a freezer-box lunch.
I was the best in the class
This class of biology.
Taught by Ryan Willy
I thought it was so thrilling
And good for the soul
To learn about lichen, algae
Certain kinds of luminescent mold.
I was not so old
But bright to admire
This thing called science
A cool spring but also an invigorating fire.
But my desire for this was quickly put down
Other duties and tasks I soon in myself found;
Not so decent or profound.
As I look back at this class
With passion and desire
Another class like that I don’t ever think
I’ll ever find again to be able to so admire.
So I’ll sit in the mire
Of lost potential, and wake
With a fragment of my soul lost
That will ever so ache.
