Thoughts from a Fat Girl

April Hoover

I can’t ignore the number anymore
No matter how much I want to try
Because ignorance is stubbornness
And claiming “I’m okay” is such a lie

I weigh as much as a lion
An animal that seeks innocent prey
While I stay glued to my poor couch
Sitting and waiting, watching time tick away

Time that is ticking away on my sad life
A life full of sweet crumbs and regret
Wishing on many miracles to happen
When I should be breaking a sweat
