Summer dies as it always\u00a0dies:\u00a0begging for it,\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n sweat-drenched and tired, a little angry\u2014<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n but understanding if you have better things to do.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n So\u00a0summer swells like a bloating corpse\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n in a drained swimming pool,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n but at least the music is damn good\u2014\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n a proper camp horror flick\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n with a stellar soundtrack, lots of nostalgia<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n to really bank on the\u00a0<\/span>it\u2019s happy and poppy but<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n it\u2019s all written in blood<\/span><\/i>\u00a0vibe of the sixties.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n What\u2019s that saying? \u201cIf you can remember the sixties,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n you weren\u2019t really there.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n So\u00a0it matters what we choose to pretend to forget.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n You go outside on the front drive in the evenings<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n to watch Orion peek over the horizon, suspicious,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n the satellites full of civilians hurtling through\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n the ribs of Greek gods\u00a0and their underfed mutant pets.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Autumn feels like an impossibility,\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n but every death must have its grief cycle\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n so\u00a0you go inside and lie shirtless on the hardwood floor<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n and hold your own wake.
