I am a ghost story<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In me is the echoes<\/p>\n

of every self<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve put to rest<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Some graves came early,<\/p>\n

others far too late<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There are lessons<\/p>\n

on my tombstones,<\/p>\n

There are flowers<\/p>\n

growing above my mistakes<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I am a field<\/p>\n

of old hedge stones<\/p>\n

and overgrown ivy<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I\u2019m a cared-for garden<\/p>\n

and a turn of fresh soil<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I\u2019m in a vial on your mantelpiece<\/p>\n

where you<\/p>\n

won\u2019t<\/p>\n

let me go<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I\u2019m the bones of something<\/p>\n

the earthquakes cannot shake<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I\u2019m a grinning skull,<\/p>\n

a crooked finger,<\/p>\n

a melting pile of skin<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Rest on my benches<\/p>\n

and run alongside my gates<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I am a spirit above all my past<\/p>\n

I am a cautionary tale<\/p>\n

I am a thousand dead dreams<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You will not forget me<\/p>\n
