When I was little<\/p>\n

I wrote a story about butterflies<\/p>\n

They were soft<\/p>\n

And fragile<\/p>\n

And oh so kind<\/p>\n

I wanted to be a butterfly<\/p>\n

So colors could paint my skin<\/p>\n

Where there was only the black of ink<\/p>\n

I would drink the ink I bleed<\/p>\n

Swirling it on pages to craft stories<\/p>\n

Though I wished to be a butterfly<\/p>\n

I believed these stories could save the world<\/p>\n

I would lay words like bricks<\/p>\n

I thought I was building a sanctuary<\/p>\n

But the words would not flow into a shield<\/p>\n

The fingers of the world could still get in<\/p>\n

I wished to be a butterfly<\/p>\n

I see the world from the safety of the sky<\/p>\n

I forgot butterflies were frail<\/p>\n

They would drown in the rain<\/p>\n

That washed the ink from my skin<\/p>\n

So I held my feet to the ground<\/p>\n

Letting time was over me<\/p>\n

Now I do not know<\/p>\n

What happened to the butterflies about which I wrote<\/p>\n
