that you lived two hours in the past; that you <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\">sat and bitched about San Francisco traffic<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\"> as i lay <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\">watching you become naked<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\"> with each word to which i listened; that in the <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\">pass<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\">ing of every minute we simmered in the languor of the other\u2019s laugh, unable to catch ourselves becoming <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\">less of strangers<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\">, our hands drawn to clasp, our time slipping by as the seconds ticked on, piling infinite like sands; those sands building dunes separating me from you, you from me\u2014separating us from we such that these two lovers estranged simply lazed and daydreamed endlessly<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\"> of how they might meet; of how we might kiss; of how our hearts and minds might mix against a backdrop of Bay Area mist, <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\">two bodies shrouded, cloudy, blending at the pigments of pink lips as <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\">each<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\"> our skin became perforated, as if the<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\"> planes of two orbits had intersected or how atomic collision begets fluorescence;<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\"> how two thousand miles of intercalating distance really <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\">should have been more like two inches,<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\">of how two should fuse to one and one to none and in our dissolution <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\">we could become both everything and nothing together all at once<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\">\u2014f<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\">orgetting our unity was illusory, because maybe it didn\u2019t have to be: i thought maybe by believing that <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\">laws<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\"> like general relativity didn\u2019t apply to you and me, that maybe i could make spacetime warp; that <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\">maybe you could ignore how distance is a blunt force which buckles as mountain ranges corrugate the space from me to you<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\">; that maybe your voice was so sweet and smooth i could stay awake too late for just one more day; that while i drift <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\">to<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\"> sleep, maybe you could pretend reading poetry to me when my midnight bends might just keep our hearts mixed; and that after such attempts, you and i could defend such nonsense: <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\">beliefs<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW51322581 BCX0\"> in this certainty that it would never end;
