I try to wake in the morning<\/p>\n
But more often than not it\u2019s noon<\/p>\n
It\u2019s classes and cold outside<\/p>\n
and the halls are filled<\/p>\n
No lines, just flow<\/p>\n
Entropy juxtaposed brickwork that\u2019s stood for centuries now<\/p>\n
I circle in the stairwell and wonder<\/p>\n
How have we come so far<\/p>\n
Only to wonder where we will go<\/p>\n
I eat<\/p>\n
Others eat<\/p>\n
I eat alone<\/p>\n
At a table near the window through which I see people that look like they belong in an<\/p>\n
advertisement<\/p>\n
Colorful clothing<\/p>\n
Vibrant laughter<\/p>\n
The scent of money<\/p>\n
Plastic people everywhere<\/p>\n
And I wonder if they ever get cold<\/p>\n
Or if they just don\u2019t show it<\/p>\n
Perhaps I\u2019m so cold I\u2019ve lost my feel<\/p>\n
Staring at the ceiling so many times<\/p>\n
The popcorn starts to melt into a channel<\/p>\n
Like staring at a screen full of static<\/p>\n
If I could I\u2019d ride the waves of black and white out to meet the sun where it sets<\/p>\n
So I wouldn\u2019t have to admire it from a distance anymore<\/p>\n
Maybe then I would be there<\/p>\n
Beyond the glass<\/p>\n
I want to go where they say you go<\/p>\n
I want to be what they say you\u2019ll be<\/p>\n
I want to smile like they say you do<\/p>\n
When you get to places like these<\/p>\n
But nothing outside my body can make me feel that way<\/p>\n
I waiver to even enter the stairwell<\/p>\n
When I set foot in the elevator<\/p>\n
When I enter the classroom<\/p>\n
I stare ad nauseam<\/p>\n
Thinking the harder I look<\/p>\n
The more I\u2019ll be there<\/p>\n
And all trace of being ends<\/p>\n
When the lecture does<\/p>\n
They teach many things<\/p>\n
They don\u2019t teach many more<\/p>\n
I will be everything they tell me to be<\/p>\n
Before I will ever be content<\/p>\n
Some people say it\u2019s beautiful to be broken<\/p>\n
But I don\u2019t know what I have to say for myself<\/p>\n
I go back to my room<\/p>\n
And practice a smile in the mirror<\/p>\n
And I notice the scent<\/p>\n
