The paint on the ceiling creates crunchy bubbles
\nWater damage accumulates over time
\nBut not that much time
\nFrom my seat I can see the delicious gaps between the paint and dry wall
\nI pull a step stool directly under the water stain
\nAnd reach my fingers up to the ceiling
\nInto the ceiling
\nAnd the paper-like layers of paint
\nCrack
\nUnder such a light pressure
\nAnd crumble
\nCovering my fingers in flakes
\nI press into the paint
\nAnd use my finger nails to scrape it off the ceiling
\nFeeling the flakes gather
\nKind of sharp, but not stiff enough to hurt me
\nWhen I rub my fingers together, the flakes turn into dust
\nI bring my hands to my face and examine
\nAnd eat the paint flakes
\nThe particles get stuck in my teeth
\nI run my tongue over
\nTrying to dislodge

Paint mostly tastes like dirt
\nA pretty neutral flavor
\nThen I brush
\nDecide to floss
\nUndo the damage
