Kitty Josp\u00e9<\/span><\/h5>\n

“<\/span><\/i>a swarm of ghosts gyred around…”<\/span>1<\/span><\/sup>
\n<\/span>and she asks, <\/span>remember those circles once<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span>the stone touches the water–<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span>how they widen their gyre?<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/span>I tell her she is the only one<\/span>
\n<\/span>I know who uses that word\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/span>for <\/span>spiral <\/span><\/i>still.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She turns to me and says,<\/span>
\n<\/span>each stone waits a turn<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span>to create whirling vortices\u2014<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span>and drops another stone<\/span>
\n<\/span>into the water<\/span>
\n<\/span>to allow it<\/span>
\n<\/span>a place<\/span>
\n<\/span>to settle<\/span>
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0with her memory <\/span>
\n<\/span>of where she found it.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I used to think it was good<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span>to hang on to memories,<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span>she says, letting go\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/span>of a beautifully flattened stone,<\/span>
\n<\/span>polished smooth by the sea.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, I prefer the tiptoe\u00a0<\/span><\/i>
