There are boxes of birds<br \/>\nwith their wings broken, eyes sunk into skulls<br \/>\nstill covered with bright blue feathers<br \/>\nharbingers of spring, silenced. This silence is something to think about.<\/p>\n<p>The boy sits on the mountaintop, hands figuratively bound,<br \/>\nthoughts metaphorically bound.<br \/>\nThere are birds and flowers everywhere here, but they are not his to touch.<br \/>\nHe can smell the flowers on the wind<br \/>\nthe smell of wheatgrass baking in the sun, the<br \/>\nbirds flopping in the undergrowth. They are not his to touch,<br \/>\nhe\u2019s been told that they never were.<br \/>\nThe world is full of souvenirs of conquest<br \/>\nbut you can\u2019t get caught collecting them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Holly Day They send to the boy to the top of the mountain to think about what he has done.
