Can one be so stubborn as to cheat death?
\nWhat if all one must do to achieve immortality is deny death,
\nand label it so undesirable?
\nIs this why children feel immortal, and adults do not?
\nMaybe it is not such a feeling but a truth.
\nWhen death has no face,
\nno grin.
\nYet to refuse death\u2019s existence.
\nto deny its glistening teeth and rusty scythe,
\nis impossible for a human to achieve upon the nature of living.
\nIf one were to cheat death,
\nit mustn\u2019t be by stubbornness alone,
\nbut by naivety.
\nEven so, human they are not.
\nBut something much more unearthly.
\nTo want to die, is to be alive.
