{"id":304,"date":"2024-11-20T21:56:45","date_gmt":"2024-11-20T21:56:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/euphemism.illinoisstate.edu\/20-1\/?page_id=304"},"modified":"2024-11-30T03:31:09","modified_gmt":"2024-11-30T03:31:09","slug":"the-power-she-had","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/euphemism.illinoisstate.edu\/20-1\/the-power-she-had\/","title":{"rendered":"The Power She Had"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;font-size: 14pt\">by Jack Scholtes<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The best thing about another person is that it\u2019s another person<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">It\u2019s not yourself you are speaking to, but someone else<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Someone new, even someone old<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">And what a wonderful thing it is to talk to someone else<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">She had the most green eyes I had ever seen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">I only realized this after I left, but how wonderful they looked<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">With her dark hair and green eyes, yet bright personality.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">When I looked at her eyes, I was speechless<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">It can be as simple as that. Just seeing someone\u2019s eyes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">At that point, I was already latched. Stuck. Unable to move.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">She had me in a grip so powerful I had no idea I was in it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">But her grip was so wonderful, too<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">That night I don\u2019t think we could have been closer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">If her face was in front of mine, or vice versa, I do not know<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">But I know that the feeling I had was so significant<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Mostly because I didn\u2019t really feel at all.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">If the grasp she had was tight, or loose, I still remember the feeling<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">I remember the feeling in my heart and in my head<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">I remember the feeling on my body, as hers pressed into mine<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">I do not remember the guilt, as it was invisible to me<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The best part about another person is that it\u2019s another person.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">And while you remember that they are different than you,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Remember that they are not you<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Remember the feeling now, and even after.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">If you don\u2019t, don&#8217;t worry.
