Marriott Hotel in Normal
The Marriot Hotel was one of the first buildings, besides Watterson towers, that caught my eye when I came to Illinois State University for Preview. It looked like a very nice hotel and for parents it is very convenient for them to visit their kids. Every time I came here the front edifice of the building was permanently sketched into my memory. I had never been inside until last weekend when my parents visited.
I thought back to the days of going on vacations and baseball tournaments in different states. I was reminiscing back to my childhood memories because I will be becoming an adult. I am no longer a kid and I need to take responsibility for myself now that my parents are not here.
This hotel comforts me in a way, because I feel at home when I can bring back the memories of some when I was younger. I have only gone home once so far this year, so naturally I miss my family and friends, as do most college students.
My aunt and uncle both work in Marriott’s in Chicago, and I used to go there before I White Sox games when I was younger. And I remember how we used to eat there and hang out until we would go to the game.
Even though the Marriot in Normal is just a hotel, it brings back a lot of memories for me I needed when making the transition from high school to college. Therefore, I used this picture because I felt it was the picture I could write about and relate to the most because Normal, Illinois and Illinois State University is a new place for me. To be able to make adjustments while still feeling a little at home is a great thing for me. --Mike Catino
