Emily Ruby
I stare down 30 feet and to my surprise
My legs quiver and a shy tear falls from my eyes
When off the board I fall with no time to be brave
I understand no one will be present to make a heroic save
Surely I have merged with the water now
Wet am I not which physics would not allow
Besides, this is how a normal human dies
So how could my young body disobey life’s compromise?
