Portrait

by Gabriel Miranda

Paint me drunk in a rainstorm
Soaking wet and dripping sunshine
Flying over the pavement
Above the puddles, streets and towns

I’ll be up high in a sky of clouds
Twirling around with glee
Paint me as the summertime
Glowing, radiating, and proud

Wind blasts in my face
With only spirits to keep warm
Numb to the cold feeling
Blind to the dark, and deaf to all sound

Truly in the heavens
A dumb feather lost
On an endless plain of blue and grey
Lose me in the clouds, never to be found

Drown me up there, in the air
In the ocean in the sky
I want to spin eternally
Freed from the solid ground

Paint me drunk in a rainstorm
Soaking wet and dripping sunshine
And when I vanish over the horizon
Know that I’m never coming down
