Fears of the Dreamers

Darcy Mueller

Today I took all my dreams

And drew them on the finest paper

With the richest colors I could find

I filled every inch of space

Till the page seemed to be alive

I hear the sounds and smell the smells I had yet to experience

Then I just sat there and smiled

At the still frames on the page

At the faceless figures I had yet to meet

So they could not disappoint

I let myself be transported

To a million different worlds

All perfect bliss

Then I tore up the page

Till it was no longer recognizable

Then I sat down once more with my pens

Sketching every fear and insecurity

Then folded it into an envelope

So they could never be free

And I would never have to see my dreams again
