Can one be so stubborn as to cheat death?
What if all one must do to achieve immortality is deny death,
and label it so undesirable?
Is this why children feel immortal, and adults do not?
Maybe it is not such a feeling but a truth.
When death has no face,
no grin.
Yet to refuse death’s existence.
to deny its glistening teeth and rusty scythe,
is impossible for a human to achieve upon the nature of living.
If one were to cheat death,
it mustn’t be by stubbornness alone,
but by naivety.
Even so, human they are not.
But something much more unearthly.
To want to die, is to be alive.
What is humanity, if not ironic.
