live as if it were anew

Lydia Hansen

“There are beautiful things in this earth.”
From waterfalls that glisten with summer sun
rushing in a paved broken path.
To the sunsets painted each day anew that cover the golden fields
on countless journeyed roads.
From the dying light shown through twinkling stars above
of eternal matter left unknown.
To the fallen tree that once stood tall
through the entirety of a childhood.
By the pages of books that formed a child’s future
from just ink and simple imagination.

The chance to live a life that was never thought to begin.

The beauty raptured to living,
stood between the balance of death and life.
The choice of a couple, resulting in the beginning of a chance
showing the limitations that bound mankind to earth.
A one in five chance, one in seven-point eight billion.
“There are beautiful things, that, I’m sure.”
Yet none quite as beautiful as the chance to live in the moment of now,
for every second lost in a second never found.
