by John Grey
In my life,
I’ve known
both thinkers
and doers.
And the thinkers
thought of something
but didn’t do anything.
And the doers,
without thinking,
just did
The thinkers
missed their opportunities
by inaction.
The doers screwed up theirs
with indiscretion and recklessness.
I am neither
thinker or doer.
I am a poet.
When opportunities
present themselves,
I write a poem
about opportunities.
Opportunities
are used to this by now.
