Vacant

by  Kailey Skirpan

(This poem is from the perspective of the polar bears in Russia, currently struggling to survive.)

Vacant.

Isn’t it scary?
The Russian snow has begun to melt.
The icebergs we stake as “home”.
Liquefied.
The world is dying, and now we are too.
Our intention is not to hurt.
Just curious of what safety you have to offer.
Please let us in. Shield us from the uncertainty of outside.
The dying earth has left us vacant and alone.

Those of Earth, need to stop and realize.
Mother Nature—does not halt for anyone.
Soon, you will be left without a home.
The same pain and fear that has been placed upon us….
Will be upon you.
And all you will feel, is vacant and alone.
