I see through the shadows
My mind is a floodlight angled just right
To paint the picture clear
But the colors smear and clot and wear
The lines that once had held them there
Your razor's edge abandoned
Now moves itself in tandem
Meandering the mortal coil when prickles turn to goo
Life is a crude brew
Slurried and mixed then filtered through
The sieve of consciousness
The perspective obvious is a stance
That doesn't warrant more than a fleeting glance
Before moving up and out and in and down
An endless orbit, inconceivably round
Or so I've found.
I'm complacent with my state of unknowing
Forever growing yet never showing any form of objective truth
So I'll keep with the questions without expecting consensus
I philosophize to fossilize my eternal youth
For soon I'll die just as a warranty expires
As the tread on your tires dissolve
Evolving through friction and resistance to the cause
Now I've mapped out my path to get lost
In life and love and all of their flaws
What I see is not what I saw
And what I need is not worth the cost
So I retreat to my hole
And as I tunnel to my soul, I know
That the key to being wise
Is to expect every surprise
And see that the future ain't what it used to be.
