Lost and Found

Philip Byron Oakes

A reprise of dodo birds,

taking one last stroll

beneath a sky of

forbidden pleasures.

Leaning into the moment

of departure, a fanatic,

in a twitch of tranquility,

juggling crystal balls in

a fog that tells it all.

A residual hysteria,

in the eyes of a survivor,

brewing implications

in a house of cards

wobbled by the very

thought.

An ephemera with

shoulders punching

holes in missing hours

on the clock, stumping

pundits with the beauty

of absentia.
