Every day
I recycle the old for the new
but the energy lost
(to transform the new from the old)
is canceled
and
nothing at all changes
except maybe less plastic
in the landfills
but they stink and expand no less
and my ozone is still burning
(singed holes like cigarette burns
on a bedspread, in carpet)
and Mister Factory
still factors
debris into our breath.
