Artist Statement:
Erika Bradbury is a senior at Illinois State University, graduating in May with a University Studies degree. She gained her love for writing through poetry, and then expanded to creative fiction. If she’s not writing poems that express emotions through the incorporation of nature themes, she is writing stories about other worlds. She is also writing a story which is told through hair’s perspective. Yes, the point of view is hair. Erika hopes that one day she will become a widely published writer with many novels. There are a lot of stories to tell!
Littered on the bank.
So helpless to the waves
that captured me. Sank
until no body craved.
Devoured by the sand
that softened the floor
as my empty carcass landed.
Could a feral being pour
the contents empty? Never.
It is a creek of endless
sites; I am drowned forever.
